Discover Portugal’s premier wine region, the Unesco-listed Douro Valley, on our Portugal: Walking & Wine Premium Adventure. Your journey takes you on enchanting walks along the Corgo River, through Alvão Natural Park, and across the green wine region of Mondim de Basto. It starts in the Douro Valley and ends in the energetic city of Porto. Along the way, you’ll stop at some of the best historic wineries in the nation, such as Quinta de Tedo, an 18th-century winery located in the heart of the Douro region; Quinta das Escomoeiras, a green wine estate situated on the banks of the Tâmega River; and the renowned Port wine cellars in Porto, where you can taste glasses of organic Vinho Verde and Douro DOC red wines.
Along the route, you’ll stay at stunning establishments that pay homage to the local history and culture, such as the modern 4-star Água Hotels Mondim de Basto situated on the banks of the River Tamega and the Neya Hotel, a former convent in Porto. We strongly recommend that you make use of the state-of-the-art spa at Água Hotels Mondim de Basto, which has an indoor pool, fitness center, Turkish bath, and hot tub. In addition, the Água Viva Spa employs licensed masseurs and physiotherapists, so you can spoil yourself with a body treatment, body wrap, or massage. The hotel features an amazing outdoor infinity pool and bar with expansive views of the valley and the hotel grounds garden, and it is close to the magnificent Arnóia Castle.
Spend the night on a traditional houseboat in India
You will spend a memorable evening floating through the Kerala backwaters on a traditional houseboat on day 12 of our India’s North & South – Premium Adventure. In this part of India, the cultural and economic legacy of the nation closely intertwines with the history of traditional houseboats. Locally known as “kettuvallams,” these houseboats were constructed centuries ago using natural materials such as wood, bamboo, and coir (coconut fiber). The local communities used them to transport goods like rice and spices through the complex system of waterways in the area. These boats evolved into cozy homes over time, and when tourism arrived, Keralan houseboats saw additional renovations to become opulent floating hotels. These days, taking a trip on a Kerala houseboat gives you an exclusive look at Keralan life and the opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the backwaters and the friendly people of the area.
Whether it’s watching children jump in the canals, seeing women wash their brightly colored clothing, or witnessing locals making offerings at small path-side temples, you can spend your day on the boat observing the everyday activities of people who live alongside the backwaters. Aside from their abundant bird population, these waterways are also home to colorful bee-eaters, kingfishers, and kestrels, which you may be able to spot before the sun sets. Your houseboat will anchor in the evening to give you a front-row seat to watch the sun set over the surrounding paddy fields. After that, the chef on board will prepare mouthwatering regional specialties that center on an abundance of coconut, rice, tapioca, and seasonings like ginger, cloves, cinnamon, and black pepper.
Soak up the ambience in Morocco’s colourful riads
On our Treasures of Morocco – Premium Adventure, you will not only get to experience the country’s iconic landscapes, such as the High Atlas Mountains and the Sahara Desert, but you will also get to tick off bucket-list imperial cities and bustling souks in Casablanca, Fez, and Marrakech. A camelback ride in the Sahara Desert, a traditional hammam experience in Imlil, and a cooking class in Marrakech are some of the trip’s highlights. We also make sure your lodging is equally amazing, with evenings spent in kasbah-style hotels, opulent desert camps, and quaint traditional riads.
As urbanization and modernization spread in Morocco at the turn of the 20th century, many riads were destroyed or fell into disrepair to make room for more modern buildings. Nonetheless, there has been a resurgence of interest in maintaining and renovating these stunning historic structures in recent decades. Thus, a lot of riads have been turned into boutique hotels over time, drawing tourists looking for a more genuine Moroccan experience. On our Treasures of Morocco – Premium Adventure, you’ll spend four nights of the adventure in traditional riads across the nation. Riads are charming because of their intricate design, traditional architecture, and oasis-like atmosphere.
You’ll wind down for the evening in Riad El Yacout on nights two and three. Located near the Batha Fountain in the heart of Fez’s bustling Medina, Fassi craftspeople lovingly restored this riad, showcasing spectacular Arab-Andalusian architecture with decorative columns. It was once the ancient private residence of a wealthy merchant.
Fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle in the Peruvian Amazon
As promised, our Best of Peru – Premium Adventure will show you the best that Peru has to offer. Visiting the floating islands of Uros and Taquile in Lake Titicaca, seeing Andean condors in Colca Canyon, having an Andean pachamanca lunch with members of the Chinchero community while surrounded by the snow-capped mountains of Salkantay, Verónica, and Soray are just a few of the major highlights.
You’ll travel far into the Peruvian Amazon as this amazing adventure comes to a close. We make sure you stay in carefully chosen lodgings the entire time, but our personal favorite is the two nights you spend on days 13 and 14 at the four-star Inkaterra Hacienda Concepción. The Inkaterra Hacienda Concepción, which was formerly a cacao and rubber plantation, is located between the Madre de Dios River and Tambopata National Reserve on 819 hectares of natural rainforest.
Featuring high ceilings and thatched roofs made of fishtail palm leaves, the 25 private cabanas are elevated on stilts for maximum privacy. You can also participate in guided tours with local wildlife experts to observe giant anteaters, blue and yellow macaws, and red howler monkeys, known to nest in old palm swamps. You will also have the opportunity to go on a twilight river cruise on the thirteenth day of your trip, with the goal of seeing nocturnal animals like the giant leaf frog and the kinkajou.
Relax in a sauna in the middle of the Dolomites
From the charming South Tyrol village of Villabassa, come on an eight-day Classic Dolomites – Premium Adventure that will take your hiking skills to new heights. You can choose between Level 3 (Moderate) and Level 5 (Challenging) depending on the departure you choose. Enjoy walks through the National Parks of Fanes-Sennes and Dolomiti di Sesto, where you can see the Tre Cime di Lavaredo and Lago di Braies up close. A hike to Monte Piana reveals an outdoor museum filled with First World War trench warfare artifacts, tunnels, and emplacements—a sobering reminder of this region’s previous role as a vital frontline between Italy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
This Premium adventure is center-based, so you’ll stay at Hotel Adler, a four-star retreat in Villabassa, for the entirety of your journey. More than 400 years ago, nobleman Stefan von Kurz zum Thurn called it home. Today, the Pircher family occupies it, and they take great delight in providing you with the best South Tyrolean hospitality. With traditional accents and classic furnishings in every room, their historical walls tell a story spanning centuries. Their stube (salon), with its 16th-century wood panelling and roaring fire, is the ideal spot to unwind with an aperitivo and a good book after a day of exploring the picture-perfect Dolomites. You can also visit the hotel’s wellness center, which has a sauna, steam room, and solarium, or use their pool for a refreshing morning swim.
