How to Visit the Bali Botanical Garden in Bedugul, hire a guide or join a tour for an immersive experience, marveling at the diverse flora and fauna set against the picturesque backdrop of the highlands.”
How to Visit the Bali Botanical Garden in Bedugul
Large trees and thousands of various species of tropical plants can be found in the 160 hectares (400 acres) of jungle and woodland that make up the Bali Botanical Garden in Bedugul.
The largest botanic garden in Indonesia is well worth a visit the next time you’re in north Bali, if only to take in the massive banyan tree at the park’s rear!
This travel guide will tell you all you need to know before you go, including how to get there!
Bedugul Botanic Garden
Perched atop the Bedugul caldera basin’s hillside is the Bedugul Botanical Garden, often referred to as Kebun Raya Bali.
The park has walking trails, a circular road that allows you to drive around the forest, water fountains, and generally well-maintained infrastructure.
The enormous banyan (ficus?) tree in the back of the park, which may be hundreds of years old and has six enormous stumps, was unquestionably the highlight for us. It resembles one of the Lord of the Rings’ walking tree ents!
There are also large tree ferns that resemble dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, a bamboo forest, and a whole area devoted to cacti. Here are occasionally even Rafflesia, or huge corpse flowers!
The botanical garden is a popular spot for prewedding pictures, picnics, strolls, and fresh air for many Bali residents. Its elevation of roughly 1,500 meters (5,000 feet) above sea level makes it much colder than other places of Bali.
When the weather is clear, the park offers views of Lake Beratan. We didn’t try the zip lines and tree houses that are part of the treetop experience.
You should be able to experience the majority of the park’s attractions in less than an hour overall.
Hours & Fees
- Hours: 8 AM – 6 PM
- Entrance Fee: 30k IDR (~$2)
- Car Entry:* 15k IDR (20k on weekends/holidays)
*If you pay a small additional entrance price, cars are allowed to enter the park and make a round around it. Everything is dispersed, thus this is an excellent concept.
How To Get There
The location of the Bali Botanical Garden is at Bedugul. Travel time from Ubud is one hour, or slightly shorter from the northern Bali region of Singaraja. Renting a scooter or hiring a private vehicle with a driver is the most convenient method to get there;
you can reserve both of these online. It’s simple to visit both locations in one day because the botanic garden’s entrance is next to the well-known Ulun Danu Beratan lake temple!
Bali Private Driver & Motorbike Rental
Club TravelScape is the best option if you want to see Bali in a private vehicle with a driver that speaks English while being safe and comfortable.
For one to five guests, they provide a full day of driving and sightseeing in Bali for 650k Rupiah ($45 USD). That includes the cost of the driver, the entire car, and the gas! It’s rather substantial. They also provide reasonably priced airport to hotel transportation. They also have motorbikes if that’s how you’d prefer to travel. Their scooter rentals come with a helmet, raincoat,
and free delivery within the south Bali area, with prices starting at 140k Rupiah (~$9). Club TravelScape is an excellent resource for tours and activities we’ve utilized all over the world. Strongly advised.
