Old Delhi: Culinary Delight Unveiled
Delhi is almost certainly going to be on your travel itinerary if you are traveling in India (unless you are traveling solely in South India). Delhi, the nation’s capital for good reason, is the hub of all vacation destinations in North India. In Delhi, multiple worlds coexist simultaneously. There is a contrast between the expansive highways and contemporary facilities of New Delhi and the immutable Mughal capital, known as Old Delhi. The amount and variety of delicious food in Old Delhi is one thing that hasn’t changed.

Here is a list of a few of our favourite places to eat in Old Delhi
Karims (Jama Masjid)
Proud to be the offspring of the Mughal dynasty’s royal chefs, Karims are well-known for their Mughlai and North Indian cuisine. Karim’s is a haven for meat lovers; everything is incredibly juicy and tender. Our favorites are the Mutton Barra and the Mutton Seekh. There aren’t many options if you’re a vegetarian, but you should definitely try the Shahi Paneer!
Paranthewali Galli (Chandni Chowk)
A vegetarian food lane called Parathewali Galli may be found close to the Red Fort in the bustling Chandni Chowk market. Known for its mouthwatering array of Parathas, which are bread buns filled with a spicy vegetable stuffing, this place is highly recommended. As much as the cuisine, the crowd watching is the main draw.
Jain Coffee House (Chawri Bazaar)
The Jain Coffee House is a small café tucked away in a maze of narrow lanes within the bustling streets of Chawri Bazaar, making it difficult to find. Once located, you’ll see it’s a unique location that has been in business for the majority of the last 50 years. Jain Coffee House is on our list because of its delicious fruit sandwiches, even if the coffee and milkshakes are also delicious. The sandwiches alone are reason enough to visit this establishment.
Aslam Chicken Corner
“I am not butter chicken; I cannot please everyone.” One of the most often used phrases in North India is this one. Indeed, everyone enjoys butter chicken, which consists of tender, soft chicken parts cooked in a rich sauce made with butter, cashews, and tomatoes. Moreover, its popularity highlights the universal appeal of this delightful dish. Butter Chicken originated in the kitchen of Moti Mahal, a renowned eatery situated in Old Delhi (more on Moti Mahal later).
You’re in for a surprise, though, if you go to Aslam Chicken Corner expecting the classic rendition. In the purest sense, Aslam Chicken Corner sells actual butter chicken. Once the chicken is roasted, transfer it to a bowl, cover it with dollops of butter, sprinkle with salt, and voila! For you, that’s butter chicken!
Moti Mahal (Dariyaganj)
Many Moti Mahals can be found all over the nation, but they are all just copies of this one. Time has proven that the genuine Moti Mahal still exists. As previously mentioned, this is where Butter Chicken originated. Renowned culinary experts such as Gordon Ramsey and Heston Blumenthal have visited this eatery to sample their exceptional cuisine!
Kuremal Mohanlal Kulfiwale (Sitaram Bazaar)
Kuremal Mohanlal is well-known for his Kulfis, an Indian ice cream, as the name would imply. This establishment is well-known for its assortment of Kulfis, particularly the packed mango and apple varieties. After your filling lunch in Old Delhi, don’t miss this lovely and sweet finale!
